My beautiful little boy has gorgeous long dark eyelashes and about 6 months ago I noticed that along his eyelash line was "crusty". I thought it was allergies so I would just clean his eyes, but when it didn't go away I took him to the doctor and he told me it was blepharitis. He told me that it was a chronic condition and there is no cure for it but told me the normal treatments. (Baby shampoo and warm compresses) I do them faithfully but it is something we do have to do daily or it comes back. He has lost some of his eyelashes also. I also use an eye lubricant to keep his eyelids conditioned. This does seem to help, but my question is, does it ever just go away? I hate to think this will be a lifelong thing, he is only 5.
