Eyelid twitching, which is also called blepharospasm in a technical term, has the symptom of the unusual and unrestrained blinking or spasm of eyelid for a long time. It is usually uncontrollable by brain and it is a disorder of the body which may give an awful and grave look on your face. So nobody would like to experience the symptom especially when you do some important talking with other people.

Eyelid twitching can be divided into several forms according to the severity of the symptom, including mild eyelid twitching and serious eyelid twitching.

Mild eyelid twitching only has the symptom of blinking and it is not required any special treatment or medication. People can get over it after a couple of days by themselves and do not have to worry about any serious threats later. This kind of eyelid twitching is usually caused by excessive consumption of caffeine, stress and fatigue. All the reasons can be attributed to bad habits of lifestyle. Therefore, you only have to reduce the intake of caffeine and ease your work pressure to solve the problem of eyelid twitching. This is not a serious disease and will not lead to very bad consequences. All the recovering period may only last about several weeks, though patients may not feel comfortable to spend the recovering time.

However, the serious eyelid twitching has something to do with the neurological problems or Tourette’s syndrome. The symptom of the serious eyelid twitching may include the vision problems or chronic irritation of the patients. There is also the possibility that the eyelid will close completely when the eyes suffer severe irritation.   It is a relatively difficult problem and requires enough attentions to evaluate and treat the disease, or it will lead to terrible consequence.

In practice, it is usually very hard to indentify whether you have the mild eyelid twitching or the serious eyelid twitching, so if you feel you may have the problem of eyelid twitching, you should go to your doctor’s at once to have a check on your eyes. Eyes are worthy to be protected because it is the window to the outside world which helps us to see the world in a bright way. So focus on each symptom happening on your eyes, it is your right and obligation to keep eyes in a fantastic condition.

I have read many things about this on the internet, and I am trying to avoid visiting a doctor because this happened to my left lower lid a few years back, and it went away on its own.

Right now, it is starting to become little annoying because of continuous fluttering. I sleep about 6 hours a day, exercise almost every alternate day, but of course work a lot in front of the computer.
